Erb drives to fourth at Spoon River Speedway
Tyler Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team hit the road this past weekend with the Land of Lincoln in their sights as the annual Illinois Speedweek got underway, heavily impacted by rain.
After Tuesday’s scheduled opener at La Salle Speedway was washed out, the team moved on to Spoon River Speedway on Wednesday for the FloRacing Night in America event. Erb raced through a strong field of 38 entries and capped the night with a fourth-place finish in the 50-lap feature, chasing Brandon Sheppard, Hudson O’Neal, and Bobby Pierce to the finish, with Devin Moran completing the top five.
Rain continued to impact the remainder of the week, with Thursday’s program at Lincoln Speedway cut short and Friday’s scheduled stop at Farmer City Raceway canceled due to weather.
The week wrapped up Saturday at Fairbury Speedway for the FALS Spring Shootout, where Erb closed out the weekend against the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. After transferring into the $30,000-to-win A-Main, late contact with another competitor on lap 53 resulted in an 18th-place finish.
