Erb races to runner-up finish in Sunshine Nationals at Volusia
Tyler Erb’s pursuit of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship began last weekend at Volusia Speedway Park during the seventh annual Sunshine Nationals.
Against a stout 44-car field on the half-mile oval, Erb took a provisional into Thursday’s opener and charged forward 18 positions in the 35-lap feature to secure an eighth-place finish.
Friday marked a stronger showing, as Erb followed up a heat race victory with an impressive run from fourth to second in the feature.
On Saturday, Erb narrowly missed transferring out of his B-Main by one position, forcing him to rely on a provisional. He once again advanced through the field in the 50-lap finale, gaining nine spots to finish 16th.
