Tyler Erb Wins $2,500 with MSCCS at Whynot Motorsports Park

By Ben Shelton (New Waverly, TX) -- While Mother Nature may have altered Tyler Erb’s weekend plans, it couldn’t keep him from taking his First Class Septic #91 New Point Lighting and Design/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane for the second-straight week.

With a $2,500 triumph at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night, Erb registered his second Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) win in as many weeks.

“The past year or so the state of Mississippi has been really good to me,” Erb said. “We came up a little bit short at Columbus (Speedway) on Friday night, but on Saturday night at Whynot (Motorsports Park) we had a great car and we were able to get another ‘W.’ I want to thank my family, my crew, my sponsors, and all of my fans for continuing to support my racing program.”

After Mother Nature postponed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series’ Illini 100, Tyler Erb made the decision to head to Mississippi for a pair of weekend special events.

Action opened at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Friday evening with the Mud Bug Classic. With 24 Super Late Models on hand for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioned program, Erb laid down the fastest-time overall in qualifying before picking up the dash victory. Rolling off from the pole position for the feature, Tyler slipped one spot in the finale to finish in the runner-up spot behind Rusty Schlenk with Michael Arnold, Tanner English, and Brian Rickman completing the Top-5 finishers.

The following night in a field of 26 cars at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), Tyler locked his spot into the $2,500-to-win A-Main with the second fastest qualifying time. From his front-row starting spot for the feature, Erb jumped into the lead on the opening lap and held the top spot for the entire distance to capture his fifth win of the season and a $2,500 payday. Chad Thrash, Brian Rickman, Rusty Schlenk, and Rick Rickman rounded out the Top-5.

The upcoming weekend’s racing slate is still up in the air for the driver known as “Terbo.” If he races anywhere, he will tentatively travel to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Saturday night for a $2,500-to-win program with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series. (MSCCS).
